$1000 Early Hook-Up Incentive

A provision of our septic tank replacement program is an Early Connection Incentive.  Property owners that connect to the new central sewer system within 90 days of availability are eligible for a $1000 credit/refund. If you owe any money to Sarasota County Utilities for any previously existing utility account or loan, that amount will be subtracted from the credit/rebate amount.  Otherwise “if the capacity and connection fees were paid in full, the county will generate a rebate check and mail it to you”.

What Do We Have to Do?

To receive your credit/refund send an original (no photocopies) paid-in-full invoice from a Florida licensed plumber to Sarasota County Utilities, PO Box 2553, Sarasota, FL 34230.  Previous instructions were to also provide proof that the county and state permits had passed inspection, but that is no longer necessary.  County staff will verify the final inspections for the permitted connections and tank abandonments through internal records.

Notice of Availability

The Utility Connections Dept. started mailing Noticing Packets in mid-April. Owners that have already paid the sewer capacity fees and have completed their connection (or are in the process) will receive official Notice of Availability via first-class mail.  The mailed notice will give instructions for applying for the Early Incentive, but you do not need to wait for the noticing packet to apply for your incentive check.  

Early Incentive Application Form?

There is no application per se for the early hook-up incentive.  The receipts for the on-site work will prompt the county system to determine your eligibility and process your credit or mail you a check.
